RetroBrowse is a native macOS application for browsing and managing Apple II disk image files. All processing happens entirely on your Mac. The app does not connect to the internet, does not transmit any data, and does not collect any personal information.
What RetroBrowse does not do
- Does not collect, store, or transmit personal information of any kind.
- Does not require an account, sign-in, or registration.
- Does not connect to the internet or any remote server.
- Does not upload your disk images, files, or any data to any server.
- Does not use advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs.
- Does not use cookies or any form of persistent tracking.
- Does not access your contacts, location, camera, or microphone.
Data we collect
None. RetroBrowse operates entirely offline. Disk images and their contents are read from and written to your local storage only. No data ever leaves your Mac.
Files and disk images
RetroBrowse reads and writes disk image files that you explicitly open. Access is granted through the standard macOS file-open dialog (sandboxed file access). The app retains no copies of your files and accesses no files outside those you explicitly select.
macOS Sandboxing
RetroBrowse is sandboxed and follows macOS security guidelines. It requests only the permissions necessary to open and save disk image files that you select. It has no network entitlements and cannot make outbound connections.
App Store
When RetroBrowse is distributed through the Apple App Store, Apple may collect certain usage and diagnostic data as described in Apple’s Privacy Policy. This data is governed solely by Apple and is separate from RetroBrowse itself.
Third-party frameworks
RetroBrowse is built with Apple’s native Swift and SwiftUI frameworks only. No third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, or advertising frameworks are included.
Website analytics
This website (portwally.github.io) uses GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly visitor counter that does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. No data is shared with advertisers.
Children’s privacy
RetroBrowse does not collect any data from any user, including children. It is suitable for general audiences of all ages.
